To bring this process closer to you, we are launching a multi-part blog. We will address key topics that concern us and present concrete practical solutions.

1. Our First Step: Understanding the Situation
The first step consists of analyzing the initial situation. Often, the objective is not entirely clear because the potential is unknown. In this phase, we identify resources and working methods, including ERP systems, and gather expertise from your employees. In our Discovery Workshop, thanks to efficient exercises, we gain a clear picture of your initial situation and your objectives.
Afterward, we develop a proposed solution, which will be finalized together with you in a follow-up meeting.
2. Our Concept: Understanding the Connections
For us, looking at the entire process, from purchasing to delivery, is very important. Even if not all processes can be implemented or are very industry-specific, it’s crucial to consider them in the overall context. It’s becoming increasingly important to view processes from the end and to create the necessary foundations so that implementation works along the entire process chain. For example: When specifying the preferential origin for export, relevant clarifications must already be made with the supplier.
3. Our Implementation: Process Optimization Without Detours.
The acceptance of the responsible person is crucial during implementation. Care should be taken to ensure that the implementation ideally brings no changes to accustomed processes, especially no new processes. Process reduction is explicitly desired. This means that a change, such as the elimination of an additional document or saving typing effort, will be immediately accepted. Later optimizations can be based on data evaluations, allowing further potential for improvement to be assessed.
4. Building on Success
Our goal at the start of a project is to achieve the greatest benefit with as few process changes as possible. We consciously accept not mapping all processes, but rather focusing on the standard processes. Quick wins are very important in this phase to boost motivation. If it works for the standard processes, the special processes can often be adapted as well. We always pursue the approach of implementing «as much as necessary, not as much as possible.»
For origin of goods, we first analyze the customs tariff numbers used and the countries of receipt, and only map these origin rules. A later expansion is possible at any time to ensure that all parties involved can concentrate on the essentials and don’t waste time with unnecessary ballast.
The end result: A tailor-made solution precisely customized to your individual international trade process. A solution that will significantly save not only time but also costs.
